Recent mass shootings in San Bernardino is an urgent situation concerning America's internal security that needs to be paid attention carefully. Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik who are suspected to be the shooters fired approximately 150 bullets inside the Inland Regional Center, then fought against the police officers leaving many innocent citizens dead. Those dead people are supposed to be individuals protected by the government of US, but they tragically died in accidents they never asked for. Now, their family and relatives have to accept the reality and face sad situation that will also shock their psychological condition.
Many mass shootings, including San Bernardino case, happened in Obama's presidency. Now, he is trying to be responsible about it by tightening the regulations of gun control. Obama believes that the shootings happened because criminals could easily find or buy guns through any online media or any stores. The easiness of getting guns and ammunitions give more confidence for the criminals to attack the citizens whenever they want to. In the aim of mitigating that problem, Obama is committed to make sure that people can not easily get guns, so that criminal rates involving gun attacks will not happen again in the future.
Obama's gun control regulations consist of strengthened background check that will be conducted to people who want to buy guns, to people who already have guns, and to the companies who sell the gun. Obama wants to make sure that people who are going to buy guns can be considered legitimate to own gun, so that the guns will not fall to the bad guys. Obama also wants to check the status of guns that are already owned by society. Obama will force people who have unlicensed guns to apply submission to get licensed guns. Lastly, Obama also will push gun companies to not only be profit oriented but also be responsible with their selling by making sure that the buyers are trusted.
The regulations are quite complicated, but very much necessary. Crimes are unpredicted actions that can directly take away lives of society in the time people can't measure. In this case, Obama as President of US is the person who is accountable with the lives of those people because society has trusted Obama to protect their lives and make sure that they can live in a secure environment. That is why Obama needs to take preventive action through his gun control regulations to make sure that guns will not go to the bad guys. Therefore, national security can surely be maintained.
Most people may be worried that gun control is a bad solution, but those people are wrong. People think that they will have no power to do self defence and they're afraid they can not shoot a bullet to protect themselves from criminals because they think they will have no guns at all. That is where most people are very wrong. Gun control regulations only make sure that only people who are trusted such as having no criminal records and having health mental condition can be given access to own guns, so that wrong people can not own that. People can still do self defence mechanism absolutely. That being said, there is no problem with gun control regulations. In fact, it is definitely effective and very much important to protect the security of US citizens.
